The two balances at the bottom are the ones to compare: your register balance and the adjusted statement balance. If they match, your checkbook and your bank account agree, at least as of the transactions you entered. If they don't, the difference points to a missing deposit, an uncleared check, or a simple entry error somewhere in the list.

The figures that move this result most are the bank statement ending balance you started with and the two catch-all fields, 'all other deposits' and 'all other checks.' Because those totals bundle several transactions into one number, a mistake there is the easiest place for an error to hide.

This calculator only adds and subtracts the numbers you give it. It doesn't know about bank fees, interest earned, holds on deposits, or transactions still pending that haven't shown up on either your register or the statement yet, so a balanced result here isn't a guarantee your account is error-free.

If the two balances don't match, it's worth going back through each check and deposit one at a time rather than only checking the totals. Once they do match, this is a good habit to repeat each time a new statement arrives, since catching a small discrepancy early is a lot easier than untangling several months of them later.
